This is a very fine set of four New Guinea nose pieces from four different cultures. The top piece is an ancient curved boar’s tusk nose piece from the Mountain Ok people near Telefomin in PNG’s Central Mountain range. The second one down is an eagle bone nose piece from the Kukukuku people who live at the border between the Eastern Highlands, Morobe and Gulf Provinces. Note the red/black seed on one end—this is used to smooth the way when inserting the piece through the septum. The third one is tridacna clam shell and from the Massim culture of northeast New Guinea. The bottom one is again tridacna clam shell and from Collingwood Bay, Oro Province, Papua New Guinea. All four are older, well-used examples, they range in size from 3 ¾" of the top piece to 8" for the bottom. sold
