This engaging mask comes from the Sepik Coastal area of Papua New Guinea. It has a refreshingly naturalistic countenance. The paint is probably western but it has aged and softened over time. There is a brown glossy patina on the forehead and significant signs of long-term traditional use. The mask is 17" in height, dates to the 1920s and sells for $6000. Questions?
