Here is a fine Massim lime spatula surmounted by a figure that seems a mix of human and insect form. The head with round eyes and well-defined nose is clearly and classically anthropomorphic but the body with its curved but flat limbs appears reminiscent of a praying mantis. Either way it is fine and elegant figure that sits calmly atop this spatula. The piece comes from the Leo Fortess Collection, dates to the late 19th/early 20th century, is 16 3/8” (41.6 cm) in height and sells for $2400. Questions?
