This ancient object is a ridge pole figure from the roof of a Massim house. It was collected in 1965 by Ralph Lawton, is ex. Harry Beran (HB11/17) and ex. Jolika Collection of Marcia and John Friede. It is illustrated in Art of the Massim Region of Papua New Guinea, Harry Beran, 1980, Fig 119, is 19th century, 23 1/8” (58.7 cm) in length and sells for $8500.
