This sweet little guy is pre-contact, stone-carved from the southern side of the Lower Sepik River either Yuat or Keram River areas. It has all the wonderful wonkiness of a very early figure, a bulbous lower torso, thin arms looping up towards the chin, a boxy backside and large nose with wide open nostrils. The expression is calm and composed. The surface is dry and aged. The figure dates to the 19th century, is 6 ¼” (15.7 cm) in height and sells for $9500. Questions?
