This is a nice, large and old Elema area bullroarer from the Papuan Gulf. These are called kaoavuru are the most revered spiritual objects often above that of the larger gope boards. This one has a classic and well executed spirit face, nice lime infilling, split tail and real signs of age and use. It dates to the late 19th/early 20th century, is 27 ½” (69.9 cm) in height and sells for $5000. Questions?
